When I met this adorable family at a local holiday bazaar they were interested in doing family photos since they had a young son who would soon turn 1 and had never got around to doing newborn photos. I also later learned they hadn’t done engagement photos or many wedding photos, so when momma Mothershead called me to get more information about doing a session I was excited. I heard from her again a few days later when she called to postpone because her son bumped his head and ended up with a goose egg that wasn’t very photogenic, so we decided to wait until it healed.
Ironically, her husband called about a week later saying he wanted to surprise her with a session as a birthday gift! Their anniversary was also coming up, so there was a lot to celebrate and he knew this was something she’d wanted for a while. It was the sweetest idea and I knew it would be the perfect gift. I sent him a certificate he could surprise her with on her birthday and we scheduled their session the following weekend.
We decided to use two locations for a bit of variety, including an open field with a view of Pioneer Peak I’d been dying to use since I first discovered it. Although it was chilly, we were blessed with lovely sunshine, which I used to create a bit of light flare. As a fellow heeler owner, I was so glad they brought their dogs who were just as photogenic as their owners. And when their little guy was done with being outside, we switched the focus to just mom and dad with a few shots of just them. I’m so glad I was able to help them celebrate this moment in their lives with portraits that I hope they treasure forever.
