James and Kristene contacted me about photographing their wedding based on a referral from a previous customer. They didn’t plan to go the traditional route when it came to their nuptials and wanted someone who was ready to document their unique day. That difference started with the bride being ready and on-site well before her groom who was in-route to the location when she called to check on him. Rather than have an officiant marry them, they decided to marry themselves and their children together as a family, with each making a vow to the others and each receiving a ring. They started the ceremony with an a cappella rendition of “All of Me” sung by the bride’s good friend for the groom, included their daughter surprising them with bubbles and ended with a group prayer. After a round of hugs for all, guests enjoyed dressing up with fun props for the photo-booth guest book and down home BBQ, both provided by dear family friends. But the talk of the party was their amazing wedding cake! Their wedding day was certainly unconventional, but it was filled with warm smiles, heartfelt congratulations and love. Congratulations to not only James and Kristene, but their newly created family as well!
