Due to deployments and odd schedules, it’s fairly common for military couples to tie the knot in the presence of a few friends where they are stationed, then celebrate with a full ceremony and reception at a later date ‘back home’. That’s exactly what John and Nicole decided to do, wed here in Alaska now and have a big wedding in Michigan later this year.
Several inches of fresh snow along with beautiful sunny skies created a perfect backdrop for their simple and sweet Alaskan ceremony. Decked out in the outfits they will wear for the big wedding in a few months, they were all smiles as a small group of friends joined them to witness their union. Afterwards, we did a few quick portraits at the ceremony location, before John channeled his Viking heritage and scooped up his new bride to carry her off to the next round of shots!
These two were so fun to work with. They giggled, they grinned and they looked at each other with such love. All of which made my job easy and super enjoyable. Apparently they are always like this, as they told me that the photographer they worked with in Hawaii also noted how they never stopped smiling and they naturally posed just by interacting with each other. They were seriously a photographer’s dream. Not only were they game to use the props I’d brought along, but they had their snow shoes and requested portraits with them! I am sure that they will be celebrating many, many anniversaries to come in the same happy manner. 🙂
