Although the patriarch of the Mills family had avoided family portraits for most of his life, a recent health scare made him see the value of having his family’s history captured in photos. His daughter found me through a friend, who works with me at my full-time job, and arranged a session for while she was in town visiting from Portland. Although the weather had been rainy and snowy the days prior to the shoot, it was cloudy with no snow or rain when we arrived at the park, so we ventured a little beyond the covered pavilion we had planned to use – albeit not too far due to the icy snow still covering the ground and making walking slightly treacherous.
I thoroughly enjoyed watching Al and Janet interact with each other, their children and their grand daughter. When I asked how long they had been married they told me it would soon be 36 years. I asked if they had all be good years or if there were ups and downs. Without missing a step, Al replied “They were all good for me!” How sweet is that? I’m honored to have been able to create some family memories for this wonderful family. And now that they’ve got him on board for photos, a summer session is already in the planning!
